Vermont, one of the best kept fly fishing secrets in the country.  Imagine yourself casting to wild trout on streams that rarely see a fly fisherman!  A trip where a true wilderness feeling is possible, and just a few short hours from Boston, Hartford or New York City.  Trout on the Fly, owned by Brad Yoder operates in central Vermont, just minutes from the towns of Woodstock, Barnard and South Royalton.

The middle White River in Summer

Our home waters are the beautiful White River (recently voted one of the top 100 trout streams in the country by Trout Unlimited members) and the lower Ottauquechee River.  Both streams and their tributaries support three species of trout just waiting to be caught.  This is one of the few places left where it is not uncommon to land rainbow, brown and brook trout in a single day.  Native 10 inch brook trout are common while our wild rainbow and brown trout can reach in excess of 20 inches in our larger rivers.

The unique thing about our service is the variety of fishing adventures we offer.  There are more than 4000 miles of trout streams in Vermont and 450 miles of some of the state's best waters are in our immediate area.  We have access to nearly all of them.  Regulating the number of trips on each section of water we guide on keeps the fishing pressure low and the trout eager to take a fly.  We respect our quarry and take great measures to preserve the quality of our fisheries.

We also limit the number of guests per trip, insuring the highest level of individualized attention to each angler.  Whether you are fishing small mountain brooks, fast flowing freestone streams, or the plunge pools beneath a covered bridge, this is fly fishing the way it is supposed to be; unhurried, peaceful, and relaxed.
